The most dangerous of these sand and rock strewn wastelands is known in Egypt as the Western Desert or the Egyptian Sahara. This land has always been a region of death and chaos, acknowledged in ancient times as the seat of evil gods and souls of the dead, to this day it is regarded by most as a place to be feared.
