I have the same cpu with a z170-a motherboard. It sucks that neither the CPU has an integrated PTT nor the motherboard has the module. I recommend we wait and see how things unfold.

People wanted to continue using Win 7 on newer hardware but the new hardware doesn't have win 7 drivers. This IS not about end of Life. Its about Asus hiding Intel PTT in the BIOS, forcing you to buy an external TPM module when its not necessary, and a lot of years without being able to use this security function on an expensive Maximus board.

It's strange because loading the bios's optimized defaults sets PTT to disabled but I can't seem to: load my bios profile -> set PTT disabled -> save profile, without it ignoring the change on reboot. I assume if the mobo has full hardware TPM capability, there's no need for PTT but it's hard to find details on this stuff.

This includes PTT (Platform Trust Technology), which "supports all Microsoft requirements for firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM) 2.0". So, in theory, my mobo supports TPM 2.0 via firmware even though it doesn't have a TPM chip or an expansion slot for a TPM card. Unfortunately, as I said, the BIOS doesn't expose the PTT setting!
